A Dream Come True
In August of 2001, the ribbon was cut at The Pink Slipper Dance Studio in Harbourtown Center, Noblesville, Ind. Miss Michele Stewart, owner and instructor, had fulfilled her dream of creating a safe haven for all children to learn dance in a magical setting. Later, in 2018, doors opened to the new studio on Conner Street, bringing an even larger and more magical space to life.
Her passion for dance and decorating has come together for a combination of renaissance and fairytales, with a studio themed from the stories of timeless ballets featuring princesses and fairies. Every child is welcomed into the beautiful atmosphere to grow as dancers and learn valuable life skills.
Miss Michele is trained in the Cecchetti method of ballet and is a member of the Cecchetti Council of America (Professional Intermediate Level 6), as are several teachers on varying levels.
“Dance is the reason I am who I am today. Teaching and sharing that gift with others is one of the most important things I can do in life. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do more.”
The Cecchetti Method
The Pink Slipper follows the Cecchetti Method, which includes the opportunity for students to learn from trained Cecchetti teachers in order for the student to attain enjoyment, control and understanding as they progress through their ballet training.
We encourage our students to participate in the Cecchetti Examination process to assess their progress and level of proficiency, which takes place once a year after the annual Gala.
What Our Dancers Say
“My name is Lauren and I am currently a senior at Indiana University studying Anthropology and Art History, and also serve as the Dance Captain and a Varsity choreographer for the IU Singing Hoosiers. I choreograph for and instruct the auditioned advanced dance corps in the Singing Hoosiers while also overseeing the choreography and creating resources for the entire one hundred person ensemble. My passion for dance began when I was four years old when I was enrolled in the Pink Slipper Dance Studio. I remained at the studio until I aged out when I graduated from high school. Growing up in the studio allowed me to experience many fantastic types of dance and meet the talented cast of instructors. Learning from these individuals established a strong foundation of technique and stylization that is pivotal to success in my current position. The caring community fostered by the Pink Slipper Dance Studio ensured that I was growing and learning in a safe and fun environment that pushed me to be the ambitious performer that I am today. I’m incredibly grateful for my time with the dance studio and credit much of the success I have gained as a choreographer, after spending time with great instructors with expansive technical knowledge and creative routines, to my experience at the studio. The Pink Slipper Dance Studio prepared me for my opportunities with the Singing Hoosiers because of its exemplary staff, engaging classes, and inspiring community.”
